2-23-26    THOUGHTS

The culmination of the first three chapters of Romans in 3:23 is that “all have sinned”!  Everyone needs a SAVIOR!  The remaining verses of our reading begin  God’s solution for our problem. The remedy is Jesus the Christ!  The idea that this graceful solution from God is Present-Now as we walk in the Spirit and the Light is amazing to contemplate.  It is ours to respond to what God has done and does!    Isa 66:2b   "But to this one I will look, To him who is humble and contrite of spirit, and who trembles at My word.”

[Please read this from a good  word for word translation!]
Rom 3:23-27   Message Bible    Since we’ve compiled this long and sorry record as sinners (both us and them) and proved that we are utterly incapable of living the glorious lives God wills for us,  God did it for us. Out of sheer generosity he put us in right standing with himself. A pure gift. He got us out of the mess we’re in and restored us to where he always wanted us to be. And he did it by means of Jesus Christ. 25  God sacrificed Jesus on the altar of the world to clear that world of sin.  Having faith in him sets us in the clear. God decided on this course of action in full view of the public—to set the world in the clear with himself through the sacrifice of Jesus,  finally taking care of the sins he had so patiently endured.  26  This is not only clear, but it’s now—  this is current history! God sets things right. He also makes it possible for us to live in his rightness.   27  So where does that leave our proud Jewish insider claims and counterclaims? Canceled? Yes, canceled. What we’ve learned is this:  God does not respond to what we do; we respond to what God does.

Our Prayer:
What can we offer in thanksgiving for Your gift of Jesus to save us?  Help us to tremble at Your word, O God.  Give us pure and right hearts willing to serve You  with gladness.  Keep us keenly aware that our lives are about the things that are spiritual and eternal.  We know that You will draw near to us, if we draw near to You.  All praise to our eternal God of heaven and all creation.    In the name of Jesus our Lord,   Amen.
